Catch our Pouakai morning transfer.

Park your car at the Mangorei Road carpark (this is the trail end of the Pouakai Crossing), where Taranaki Mountain Shuttle will pick you up and drive you to the start of the Pouakai Crossing trail (the Visitor Centre).

This way you are walking towards your car and can hike the trail at your own pace, while avoiding the likely parking restrictions at the start of the trail.

Our morning shuttle will drop you at the Visitor Centre, (an approximately 30-minute drive). This is the starting point for the Pouakai Crossing.

Then we will pick you up from the trail-end
on Mangorei Road at the end of the day.

Same Day Return Shuttle

Our morning shuttle will drop you at the starting point of the Mangorei Track. This track requires good fitness as it involves several hours of walking uphill. The track climbs steadily through regenerating forest, mountain cedar and low alpine scrub to the Pouākai Hut. Five minutes past the hut you can see views of Ahukawakawa, a large wetland area, and then a further ten minute walk to reach the Pouākai tarns.

Visitor Centre Return Shuttle

Transport from New Plymouth city to the Visitor Centre (an approximately 30-minute drive) and a return trip at the end of the day (or after several days, if arranged).

The Visitor Centre is the most common start point for the Summit climb, the Around-the-Mountain circuit, and a variety of walking options with lush native forest and stunning views.

DOC staff inside the Visitor Centre can help with track information and weather updates.
Toilet facilities available.
